The Arizona Registrar of Contractors issues separate licenses for commercial, residential, and dual classifications. Each license classification is tied to a particular trade, field, or construction science profession.
What Is Residential Construction?
Residential contracting generally includes construction on residential structures such as houses, townhouses, condominiums, cooperative units, and apartment complexes of four units or less. It may also include work on appurtenances, utility service connections, sewer lines, meters, and mechanical or structural service within residential property lines.
What Is Commercial Construction?
Commercial contracting generally includes construction work that is not classified as residential construction.
What Is Dual Contractor License?
A dual contractor license allows a contractor to perform both residential and commercial work within the scope of the license classification. Arizona offers dual general contractor licenses as well as dual specialty licenses for trades such as electrical, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, concrete, painting, and other construction specialties.
